Be Part of History! Celebrate Tower Bridge’s 120th Birthday

Published: 1 May 2014

Tower Bridge was officially opened on 30 June 1894 by the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII). The original report of the ceremony, in ‘The Times’ on 2 July 1894, states:

“Under a cloudless sky and as part of a pageant which delighted tens of thousands of people, the new Tower-bridge, which deserves to be reckoned among the greatest engineering triumphs of the Victorian age, was declared open for traffic by land and water by the Prince of Wales with every circumstance of pomp and splendour.”

120 years later, the most famous bridge in the world is inviting YOU to join in the anniversary celebrations through a host of special offers and events…
