Engineering Tours Return for 2014

Intrigued to know what goes on behind the scenes at Tower Bridge? Then look no further than the ever-popular Engineering Tours, taking place every weekend during January and March 2014.

Enjoy a rare and extended tour of Tower Bridge, from the fascinating Exhibition to the hidden depths of the most famous bridge in the world…

Part one: Learn about the Bridge’s captivating history and construction from one of our experienced guides; admire the spectacular panoramic views from the high-level Walkways and wonder at the original steam pumping engines, accumulators and boilers in the atmospheric Engine Rooms.

Part two: Follow the Bridge’s Senior Technical Officers to those areas normally out of bounds to the public, including the Bridge Control Room, the immense Bascule Chambers below river level and the Machinery Room, which houses the impressive hydraulics that power the lifting of the Bridge.
