Restoring the Most Famous Bridge in the World…            In Harmony With Your Event

Tower Bridge is currently receiving an essential and exciting 3-year restoration programme – a visually breathtaking process occurring only once every quarter-century and the first of its kind this millennium. We are committed to providing assurance that these works will not interfere with events held at any of our breathtaking venue areas.

The initial phase of the restoration will involve grit blasting back to base metal and re-coating all metalwork on the South Approach. This will take place from September 2008 to February 2009 and has already commenced with the erection of the scaffolding and the application of special wraps that prevent any paint or debris escaping into the natural environment. The work will be carried out to the highest safety standards under the supervision of the Health and Safety Executive, and operatives will work in airtight sealed compartments. There will also be strict control of the noise caused by the works, ensuring your event will run smoothly and successfully without disruption.

Tower Bridge Events and the views from the high-level Walkways will be unaffected by the first phase of the works. The only effect is the closure of to the access route to the venue areas via the south west pavement.  All three other access routes from the east and west pavements on the north side of the Bridge and the east pavement on the South are open providing good access. All that visitors arriving from the South side need to do is use the east pavement and cross the road on the north side of the Bridge to access the Ticket Office.

We are currently implementing further physical measures on the Bridge to make the process of directing your guests to any of our spectacular venue areas as simple and straightforward as possible.

To dispel any concerns regarding hosting an event at Tower Bridge in relation to the restoration project, please contact us to arrange a personal viewing of any of our venue areas.
