Community: a visit from Mosaic
Tower Bridge was very pleased to welcome Westminster Academy last month for a World of Work day, offering an introduction into how Tower Bridge runs as a tourist attraction. This visit was organised by one of our of our community partners, Mosaic, a charity which aims to raise young people’s aspirations for the future.
Following a tour of Tower Bridge Exhibition, the pupils learnt more about its operation and a typical working day from Marketing and Exhibition staff, and the routes they had undertaken to get their jobs. The marketing team’s overview of advertising was particularly useful when they were given an (imaginary!) £10,000 budget to create an advertising campaign for Tower Bridge, which they then presented to the rest of the group. We were really impressed by their creative marketing ideas – including attracting more visitors by giving away a free car to everyone who visits – although we’re not sure how we’d square giving away 800,000 cars with the Bridge Master!
We weren’t the only ones who enjoyed the day, pupils commented that they particularly loved the glass floor and the advertising campaign activity.
We wish everyone who took part in the day the best of luck of their future careers – whatever they choose to do!
