Go Behind the Scenes with our Engineering Tours

Discover the inner workings of the most famous bridge in the world.

Ever wanted to know what goes on behind the scenes at Tower Bridge? Now is your chance.

Our renowned Engineering Tours offer visitors a rare and extended tour of Tower Bridge, from the fascinating Exhibition to the hidden depths of the most famous bridge in the world.

Part one: Learn about the Bridge’s captivating history and construction from one of our experienced guides; view London life through our new spectacular glass floor, admire stunning panoramic views from the high-level Walkways and wonder at the original steam pumping engines, accumulators and boilers in the atmospheric Engine Rooms.

Part two: Follow the Bridge’s Senior Technical Officers to those areas normally out of bounds to the public, including the Bridge Control Room, the immense Bascule Chambers below river level and the Machinery Room, which houses the impressive hydraulics that power the lifting of the Bridge.

This is a discovery not to be missed.

Each tour is limited to 12 places.Tickets are selling fast so book now to avoid disappointment!

NOTE: The tour features steep stairs and areas that are considered confined spaces. If you have access requirements please discuss this with us before booking onto an Engineering Tour. Attendees must be 14 years and over and all aged 14 -18 years must be accompanied by an adult. 


Tower Bridge Road is closed to vehicles from 1 October - 30 December due to essential maintenance works. Tower Bridge Exhibition remains open as usual and will offer visitors a unique window into the conservation works taking place below, through its spectacular Glass Floor. Please follow signage to reach the Ticket Office where your tour commences. It is advisable to allow extra time to reach the Ticket Office during this period.
