Alex Evans Announced as Artist in Residence at Tower Bridge
Following an open call to artists in December 2016, Tower Bridge is delighted to announce that our first Artist in Residence is visual artist, director and creative facilitator, Alex Evans.
Using the Bridge as artistic stimuli and exploring the themes of appearance and disguise, Alex will be in residency for 3 months, working to create a series of artworks in response to an internationally recognised symbol of London and incredible feat of Victorian engineering. Working alongside children and local community groups, Alex will also draw on his strong educational experience to lead dynamic, interactive and thought-provoking workshops throughout this Residency.
Inspired by the intersection between architecture, geometry and nature, Alex produces densely intricate pen and ink drawings of cities. To see examples of Alex's detailed artworks visit his website or follow him on Twitter, Instagram or Vimeo.
For further insights into his Residency and to keep abreast of developments bookmark Alex's blog and keep checking back on our social media channels (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram). Here, we will be sharing Alex's work, process, experiences and reflections as he progresses through the 3 month residency.
