Will Tower Bridge lift this summer?

Unlike in the early 1900s, when myriad cargo vessels would pass through Tower Bridge to the docks in the Upper Pool of London, many of the vessels that pass through today are filled with tourists, including day trips and cruise liners.

Because of Covid-19 and the ongoing pandemic these industries have a seen a downturn, with very few opportunities to run their normal service. This, in turn, means that Tower Bridge will lift it's bascule a lot less this summer.

This page is updated regularly when new Bridge Lift requests are received so please do check back regularly to find the next time Tower Bridge will open its bascules.

Tower Bridge is still open to visitors this summer. Why not see inside and discover the stories of London's defining landmark?
