Tower Bridge Achieves 2016 Sandford Award for Heritage Education
The Tower Bridge team are delighted to announce that they have received the 2016 Sandford Award for Heritage Education.
The Sandford Award is a highly coveted independently judged, quality assured assessment of education programmes at heritage sites, museums, archives and collections across the British Isles. It focuses on formal, curriculum-linked education opportunities offered to schools by heritage sites.
Judges Julie and Judi spent the day with Education Assistants David and Sophie to observe and shadow our Key Stage 2 session ‘Crunching Codes and Raising Roads’.
Lead judge Julie Taylor said 'As beautifully structured and presented as the iconic building that houses it, the educational programmes at the Tower Bridge Exhibition are everything that you could ask for in a visit for students. It is enthusiastically presented by skilled facilitators, and provides a very carefully thought out programme delivering many strands of the National Curriculum.'
