Next session: Summer Holiday Fun: Wired for Sound

Date: Tuesday 19 August and Tuesday 26 August 2025

Time: 10:00 – 16:00

Location: Tower Bridge Learning Space

Price: Included with your ticket

Communication using sound has been a major feature of Tower Bridge since it first opened in 1894 - from ships sounding their steam whistles to indicate they’re about to come through the Bridge in foggy weather during Queen Victoria’s time to modern-day communication using walkie talkies and radio waves. Discover the science of sound and test it for yourself at our family activities on Tuesday 19 August and Tuesday 26 August. Make your own string telephone to take home – can you send a message to a friend or family member? Please note, children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Advance lift closure notice:

Due to scheduled maintenance work, the South Tower lift will be out of service from Monday 28 July to Monday 25 August 2025.

Stairs from the High-Level Walkways down to the pavement will be available as normal. There will be an alternative route available for those with access needs.

If you have questions about planning your visit, please call us +44 (0)20 7407 9191.  Please speak the team for any assistance on arrival.
